The University of Information Technology and Management (UITM) was founded in 1996 in the city of Rzeszow, the capital of Podkarpackie Province. Rzeszow, which lies at the foothill of Bieszczady Mountains is considered to be one of the most picturesque and safest cities in the whole country. It is a great place to study and stay. Its population is about 163,000 including a big student community of more than 50,000 students.

Currently there are around 8,500 young people, who have chosen to complete their college education here in this college. This is not surprising, considering that the facilities UITM provides are one of the best in Poland: a modern, fully computerized virtual campus in Rzeszow itself and a Centre for Tourism and Recreation in Kielnarowa, few kilometers from it.

As its name suggests, the university focuses on IT. It provides its students access not only to 1,200 computer terminals but also information kiosks facilities to access student related data, electronic ID cards, individual e-mail boxes and SMS messages - a virtual university system providing access to almost all its database.

COLLABORATION WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS:
The University of Information and Technology and Management is a member of the European Federation of Schools (FEDE) that gives students the opportunity to participate in debates at the European Youth Parliament and international scientific seminars. UITM is the exclusive Regional CISCO System Academy in Poland, offering Cissco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) courses. It participates in Novell Education Academic Partnership (NEAP) program, giving the students a chance to take part in Novell authorized training courses and obtain Novell certificates (CAN Certified Novell Engineer). UITM is the SUN Microsystem Authorized Academic Education Centre and obtained the rights to carry out training in the SO Solaris, Java and Star Office. This gives the students a chance to gain knowledge of the cutting edge technologies developed by these companies. For this, UITM has the distinction of receiving “The Best Local Academy” award in EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

ECTS: The University of Information Technology in Rzeszow belongs to European Credit Transfer System, which is recognized by all EU countries and by numerous institutions in the USA and Canada.

The University of Information Technology and Management offers both three year's Bachelor 's and  two years Master's  programmes at the Faculty of Information Technology and Econometrics as well as at the Faculty of Management (including specialization in Hospitality Management).

Web-Based Learning (WBL) and Computer-Based Training (CBT) are widly implemented. It has created new educational possibilities for students through access to resources available from the Internet and on CDs. Each lecture group has its own tutor, to whom it can refer any questions and ask for help. The best students are eligible for scholarships for academic achievements as well as for their involvement in academic life.
