KOSZALIN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY:
The
Technical University of Koszalin is a
state university. Since the time it was
founded in the year 1968, it has been the
main academic centre in the Middle Pomerania
area. At present, the university
organizational structure is composed of four
Faculties: Mechanical Engineering,
Electronics, Civil and Environmental
Engineering, as well as Economics and
Management. It can boast of its own research
and innovative infrastructure: the Science
and Technology Park with an academic
incubator, the Regional Vacuum Centre,
Foreign Language Centres and Computer
Centres.
The EU countries are the main foreign
partners of the University. Cooperation with
countries outside the European Union, such
as Russia and the USA, has been continuing
and is being developed. Relationships are
being established with Norway and
Switzerland, as well as international
organizations, such as UNESCO and the
International Academic Union (IAU).
The Technical University of Koszalin is
joining the process of the European
integration in accordance with its own
strategy to support regional development
based on scientific research and entitled:
“Use of 5th/6th Framework Programme in
Regional Development”. It is actively
participating in the academic programmes of
the European Union, while making a reference
to the general development strategy of the
EU: Lisbon Strategy.
The University develops the programmes while
implementing them and participating in
scientific and academic assemblies. In this
way, it contributes to the development of
the region as an integral part of Poland,
Europe and the world. This undertaking is
also supported by a cycle of annual
international conferences, where the issue
is raised of regional development based on
knowledge. One of the conferences: “The Role
of Science and 6.PR in Regional Development”
in the year 2002 was distinguished by the
European Commission. In the year 2003, a
further conference was held entitled “the
Lisbon Strategy as a Task for Regions".
